The walls of a single storey A-frame house are to be extended upwards to create a full two-storey house for the family of a stone mason. The existing walls of the ground floor and garage that are original will have their render removed and be clad by the owner with pieces of stone. All new walls will have a white render finish, thus delineating old from new.

A new band of clerestory windows separates the walls from the new roof, providing all rooms with ample daylight while protecting the privacy of the family. The entrance has been moved from the east side to the front, nearer to the garage for convenience.

The floor plan unites the living and dining areas into one space, with a sliding divider/bar element separating the kitchen from the dining area. The master bedroom has an en-suite bath and walk-in closets, as well as a skylight located above the bed.
